EORM and BCP
The EORM approach to Business Continuity Planning consolidates three traditional continuity-planning disciplines, as follows:

-
IT Continuity Planning – Traditional names for this process include Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP). The DRP process addresses the continuity planning needs of an organization’s IT infrastructures, including centralized and decentralized IT capabilities and includes both voice and data communications network support services.
-
Business Process/Unit Planning – Traditional business process/unit planning addresses the continuity of an organization’s business operations (i.e., Finance, Procurement, Distribution, etc.) should they lose supporting resources (i.e., IT, communications network, facilities, critical third party support, etc.).
- Crisis Management Planning – Crisis Management, whether enterprise-wide in scope or localized to a particular site, focuses on the development of an effective and efficient response, mitigation and communications protocols. This response capability includes forming appropriate management teams and training their members in reacting to serious company emergency situations (i.e., hurricane, earthquake, flood, fire, serious hacker or virus damage, financial crisis, etc.).
Figure 1 below is a pictorial illustration of each of how the three components of the enterprise-wide approach to availability should be viewed, and how the EORM Contingency Planning Service assists in achieving an appropriate Availability Infrastructure. Roll over each segment to view additional aspects of each component.
